Born in New York City, Maria Carola studied Psychology at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD and NewYork University, and documentary photography at the International Center of Photography in New York. She began working as a freelance photographer for advertising and nonprofit agencies in 1999. Past clients include American Red Cross, United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Barnes & Noble and I Love NY. At this time she also started photographing urban landscapes, with a particular interest in abandoned spaces. Her work has been published in the United States and Europe and is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). She is a member of the National Arts Club, the Camera Club of NewYork and the International Documentary Association. |
